Fiberglass reinforced plastic FRP GRP mortar pipe adopts resin as basis material, glass fiber as reinforced material and filled with quartz sand. The resin-based body is wound on a rotating mandrel layer by the glass fibers. The quartz sand is evenly laid as a mortar layer at a long distance between the fibers.
This unique structure make the pope wall structure reasonable and advanced and the role of the material can be fully exerted. The stiffness is improved without effect the service strength. So it can ensure the stability and reliability of the GRP pipes.
The property and advantage of FRP GRP mortar pipe
FRP/GRP mortar pipe is also called RPM pipe, as the RPM pipe is accompanied with sand in its structure, compared with the pure FRM pipe, it not only has property of lightweight and high strength, but also possess high stiffness as the buried pipe and low cost. So it is welcomed form its presence. The usage in conveying water or other fluid is more and more. The relative information reported that 160 thousand kilometers long RPM pipe had been installed in America during the middle period of 1990s. in Europe, the length of new laid large and middle diameter RPM pipe for conveying water and sewage accounted for 30%~50% of total installed length. In Japan, this kind of RPM pipe account for a certain share, its total installed length had exceeded the aggregate of steel pipe and concrete pipe. And in Mid-East area, almost all the pipe for conveying water, sewage and desalinated seawater are RPM pipe.
The structural composition of Glass Reinforced Plastic Mortar Pipe
1. Inner surface layer: also known as anti-seepage and anti-corrosion layer. In pipe it plays a key role in anti-seepage and anti-corrosion. The inner surface layer is made of 90% resin and 10% felt.
2. Transition layer: made of two layers of chopped strand mat and 75±5% resin. The function is to prevent capillary phenomenon.
3. Structural layer: this layer is the fiber winding layer, which is the key to the strength of the product. The resin content was30±5%. in order to the improve the stiffness of pipe the quartz sand added in this layer, and its thickness depends on the external force.
4. Outer protective layer: this layer is the outermost layer of pipe, which is composed of 100% resin, its function is to prevent the buried pipe from being eroded by corrosive media in the soil, in addition, the layer is equipped with toughening agent and anti-aging agent, which can resist aging and increase the service life of pipe. Its thickness is generally 0.25~0.5mm.
